Bill Lens – free energy bill check · pilot

Hello 👋

Are things good with your energy company at the moment?

Just one question to start. No forms, and no bills needed.

About Bill Lens

A free pilot that helps you check your energy bills and put things right with your energy company, in your own words.

Does Bill Lens cost anything?

No. The bill check is free while it's a pilot, your own Tab is free, and the Energy Ombudsman is free too.

Do I need my bills to start?

No. Just one question to start: no forms, and no bills needed. Only if you want to carry on will Tab ask for bills or meter readings.

What does Bill Lens check?

The 12-month back-billing rule, estimated versus actual readings and gaps between reads, meter exchanges (the old meter's closing read against the engineer's sticker or photo), day/night register swaps, unit rates and standing charges against the tariff you agreed, your Direct Debit level against what you actually use, and credit balances.

What if my energy company won't fix it?

Start with a written request to put it right. If it isn't fixed in about 2 weeks, raise a formal complaint. Your energy company then has 8 weeks to resolve it or issue a deadlock letter, and after that you can take it to the Energy Ombudsman for a free, independent decision. No outcome is guaranteed.

Who is behind Bill Lens?

Tab is an AI bot trained to forensically analyse energy bills and manage complaints. Jason Wallace is a real person who runs this pilot. He only ever sees anonymous summaries, and never sees your messages unless you choose to send feedback.

Will you ask for my password?

We never ask for your password by message.
